Destabilizer was founded in September 2020 by guitarist Niels Sonne who went looking online for like-minded musicians to play some thrash metal. It didn’t take long for drummer Kenneth Terkelsen and bassist Thomas Haxen to join in, and after only a few months the band began recording their first EP of five tracks, Rampage, which was released in April 2021.
Still having to deal with the pandemic at the time, the band had no live shows at this stage. This left them with plenty of time to write and record their next EP, Panopticon, released in September 2021, containing two original tracks and a cover of Exodus’ A Lesson in Violence.
At this point, restrictions put forth by the Danish government during the pandemic were loosened significantly, eventually being abolished altogether. This opened the floodgates for live shows once again being held throughout the country, Destabilizer‘s first being at Platform K in Horsens, the band’s home base, in November 2021.
Throughout most of 2022, the band focused their energy mainly on writing new material to what would eventually become their debut full-length album Violence is the Answer, though a few live shows would pop up in the last few months of the year. These last few months were also when the band finally hit the studio to record their album.
The year 2023 has been a busy one. A good handful of live shows along with the mixing of Violence is the Answer done by the band itself, finally culminating in the release of the album on September 22nd 2023! Online and CD releases through Horror Pain Gore Death Productions and vinyl with help from Mephisto Copenhagen. But the year isn’t over yet, and the band still has lots in store, so stay tuned!
